Olaszország, 1940. Devora legrosszabb rémálmai válnak valóra, amikor Olaszország Németország oldalán belép a háborúba, és imádott szülővárosát elözönlik a katonák. A lány egész családját egy internálótáborba száműzik a hegyekbe.
