III. Károly néven uralkodik az új brit király

    III. Károly néven lépett az Egyesült Királyság trónjára a csütörtökön elhunyt II. Erzsébet királynő legidősebb fia – közölte csütörtök este a Clarence House, az eddigi trónörökös londoni hivatala.

    III. Károly király teljes neve Károly Fülöp Artúr György, és az uralkodó ezek közül bármelyiket választhatta volna.


    Károly néhai nagyapjának, a csütörtökön elhunyt királynő édesapjának szintén négy keresztneve volt, az első az Albert, és trónra lépése előtt a családban mindenki csak Bertie néven emlegette. Királyként azonban utolsó keresztnevét, vagyis a Györgyöt választotta és VI. György néven uralkodott 1952-ben bekövetkezett haláláig.


    Liz Truss brit miniszterelnök még az udvar bejelentése előtt felfedte a döntést, a Downing Streeten elmondott megemlékező beszédében ugyanis már III. Károlyként üdvözölte az új uralkodót.
