Az Iskola a határon testvérregényeBravúros és finom remekmű: az Iskola a határon szereplőinek szerelmesregénye.

Irodalmi jazz – a legjobb fajtából. Ottlik precízen és láttatóan képes ábrázolni a nagyváros szórakozni vágyó, bohém közegét és legfontosabb karaktereit. Ismeri őket személyesen, akárcsak mi, olvasók: a könyv egyik hőse itt is Bébé, másik kulcsfigurája pedig Halász Petár, aki szintén ismerős lehet az Iskolából. Holott ez a könyv korábban készült el, mint az Iskola a határon, s keletkezéstörténete is kész regény: Ottlik 1943-ban írta, a Magyar Csillag 1944-ben folytatásokban kezdte közölni, de az utolsó rész a náci megszállás miatt már nem jelent meg. A regény végül 1957-ben látott először napvilágot.

Az első és az utolsó fejezet felett az 1956-os évszám szerepel, a regény középső része pedig 1936-ban játszódik. A szerelmi sokszög történetében a barátság, a szerelem, a hűség és az árulás dilemmáival és változataival találkozhatunk.

Ottlik Géza (1912-1990) író, a modern magyar próza egyik klasszikusa.
