A Warner Bros. székházában van miért nevetni. A Joker (Joker, már a mozikban) első ránézésre kockázatos vállalkozásnak tűnhetett – de úgy látszik, érdemes hazardírozni. A DC univerzumán kívül játszódó történet, amely Batman egyik fő ellensége Jokerré válásának alternatív verzióját mutatja be, megbabonázta a nézőit. Ez a fim a Warner idei legnagyobb világsikere: jelenleg több mint 550 millió dolláros bevételnél tart. A statisztikák és a rekord listák szerint a Wonder Woman és az Aquaman súlycsoportjába tartozó film Todd Phillips rendező, valamint Joaquin Phoenix és Robert DeNiro pályafutásának is a legsikeresebbje. Az előrejelzések szerint a Joker teljes bevétele végül az egymilliárd dollárt is meghaladhatja.

Úgy tűnik, bevált Joaquin Phoenix módszere, aki a bohóccég főnökét játszó színész, Josh Pais szerint a következőket mondta, amikor a rendező későbbi partnereiről akart egyeztetni vele.

– Mindegy, ki szerepel a filmben – mondta állítólag Phoenix kollégái füle hallatára. – Gondolom, úgyis jó színészt hozol a stábba. Egy feltételem van: hülyét ne hozz ide. Dolgozzunk csupa jó fejjel!
