Jana minden vágya, hogy hazatérhessen szülőfalujába, Aligney-ba, de rossz sorsa Durc kikötővárosához szögezi, ahol elkeseredetten próbálja eltartani magát és húgát, Zosát, egy bőrcserzőben vállalt állásból. Ám egy nap a városba érkezik a Hotel Magnifique.

A legendás hotel nem csupán a csak itt megtapasztalható mágiáról híres, hanem arról is, hogy minden reggelre más-más városban bukkan fel. Jana és Zosa természetesen nem engedhetik meg maguknak, hogy megszálljanak a hotelben, de állásra jelentkeznek, és hamarosan életük legnagyobb kalandjának közepén találják magukat. A hotelben azonban gyorsan kiderül, hogy a szépen csillogó, mágikus máz veszélyes titkokat takar.
A jóképű ajtónállóval, Bellel az oldalán Jana nekivág, hogy felfedje a hotel titkát és megmentse a húgával együtt a hotel összes dolgozóját. A sikerért szembe kell szállniuk a kegyetlen hotelmesterrel és kockára kell tenniük mindazt, ami a legfontosabb számukra. Ha viszont elbuknak, soha nem térhetnek haza, sőt, olyan sors vár rájuk, amely legrosszabb rémálmukat is felülmúlja.
