Jane és Marnie tizenegy éves koruk óta mindent megosztottak egymással. Tudták a másik legféltettebb titkait. És ezt nem is bánták. De amikor Marnie szerelmes lesz, minden megváltozik.
Ekkortól Jane már egy csúnya titkot rejteget: szívből gyűlöli Marnie gazdag, álszent vőlegényét. És amikor a barátnője megkérdezi tőle, mit gondol a férfiról, Jane kinyögi az első hazugságot.
