A Holy Motors rendezője, Leos Carax két szupersztár, az Oscar-jelölt Adam Driver és az Oscar-díjas Marion Cotillard főszereplésével készíttette el legújabb filmjét. Az Annette az év egyik legkülönlegesebb filmélménye, amely a Cannes-i Nemzetközi Filmfesztiválon elnyerte a legjobb rendezőnek járó elismerést.
 
A showbusiness kulisszái mögé bepillantó film két főszereplője egy stand-up komikus (Driver) és operaénekes felesége (Cotillard). Amikor gyereket vállalnak, alapvetően változik meg kapcsolatuk dinamikája: magánéletükben és munkájukban egyaránt váratlan kihívásokkal kell szembenézniük.
