Est Victor Bailey emlékére a Budapest Jazz Clubban

    A 2016-ban elhunyt amerikai basszusgitáros, a Weather Report egykori tagja, Victor Bailey emlékére tartanak koncertet hazai dzsessz zenészek közreműködésével március 13-án a Budapest Jazz Clubban.

    Az erre az alkalomra összeálló formáció neve Pluto & The Young Titans feat. Tony Lakatos. A zenekarban Horváth Pluto József basszusgitározik, Bangó Adrienne énekel, Farkas Zsolt zongorázik, Szajkó Nándor gitározik, Nagy Róbert dobol és a szaxofonos Tony Lakatos a sztárvendég – szerepel a szervezők által az MTI-hez csütörtökön eljuttatott közleményben.


    Victor Bailey mindössze 22 éves volt, amikor 1982-ben – Omar Hakim ajánlására – a Weather Reportba került. A világhírű fúziós csapatban Jaco Pastoriust kellett pótolnia basszusgitárosként, tehát nem volt könnyű dolga, ám egyéni és virtuóz játékával gyorsan bizonyított.


    Az 1986-ig aktív Weather Report mellett a dzsessz színtér számos kiválóságával játszott együtt, emellett popzenészekkel is dolgozott, köztük volt Madonna, LL Cool J vagy Mary J. Blige. 1989-es szólólemeze, a Bottom Up napjainkra dzsessz-funk klasszikusnak számít, Bailey-t Grammy-díjra is jelölték.


    Magyarország egyik legtechnikásabb dzsessz basszusgitárosa, Horváth Pluto József március 13-án a BJC-ben színpadra lépő zenekarába a fiatal generáció tagjaiból toborozta társait. Hozzájuk csatlakozik sztárvendégként a világszerte jegyzett szaxofonos, Tony Lakatos.


    Az est során Victor Bailey zenei hagyatékát elevenítik fel. Az esemény külön apropója, hogy az amerikai basszusgitáros 2011-ben máig emlékezetes koncertet adott a BJC-ben.
