A rendőrséghez bejelentés érkezik: egy panelház negyedik emeletén egy fiút és egy lányt találtak a radiátorhoz bilincselve, a lány még épphogy életben van. Az ügy a gyilkossági csoporthoz kerül, ahol Kim Stone felügyelő a sok apró bizonyítékot vizsgálva ráébred, hogy a bűnügy minden egyes részlete az ő életének legszörnyűbb emlékét idézi vissza: harminc évvel ezelőtt őt és az öccsét tartották fogva ugyanígy, ugyanennek a panelháznak egy pár emelettel feljebb lévő lakásában. Amikor pedig egy újabb bűneset történik, ahol Kim nevelőszüleinek a balesetét másolja le az elkövető, a felügyelő rájön, hogy valaki az élete legtraumatikusabb eseményeit alkotja újra.
