Elszáradt füvekről

Nuri Bilge Ceylan a kortárs európai mozi egyik legjelentősebb alkotója. Legújabb, Elszáradt füvekről című, festői szépségű filmjében nyújtott alakításáért Merve Dizdar színésznő a 76. Cannes-i Filmfesztiválon a legjobb női alakítás díját nyerte el.

A török rendezőóriás, Nuri Bilge Ceylan filmjei rendszeresen a Cannes-i Nemzetközi Filmfesztiválon debütálnak, ahol sorra nyerik a díjakat – például kiérdemelte a Zsűri Nagydíját (Messze, 2003, Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, 2011), a legjobb rendezés díját (Három majom, 2008), a FIPRESCI-díjat, valamint egyenesen a fesztivál legrangosabb díját, az Arany Pálmát (Téli álom, 2014). 

Elszáradt füvekről című filmjében a kiábrándult Samet (Deniz Celiloglu) isten háta mögötti falucskában tanít Kelet-Anatóliában, Törökország kurdok lakta részén. Abban reménykedik, hogy egyszer majd a ranglétrán feljebb jut, és Isztambulban kap állást. A férfi egyhangú élete a vonzó tanárnő (Merve Dizdar az alakításáért a legjobb színésznőnek járó díjat nyerte Cannes-ban) megjelenésével, és az iskolában kirobbanó botránnyal fenekestül felfordul. Diákjaik a hatalmukkal való visszaéléssel vádolják meg őket.

Az Elszáradt füvekről Ceylantól megszokott módon az emberi lélek legmélyére ás, miközben sokakat foglalkoztató kérdésekhez nyúl rendkívül érzékenyen.
