Elhunyt Mihály Tamás, az Omega együttes basszusgitárosa

    Elhunyt Mihály Tamás, az Omega együttes Kossuth- és Liszt Ferenc-díjas basszusgitárosa – közölte az együttes hivatalos közösségi oldalán szombaton.

    Mihály Tamás (1947-2020) meghatározó alakja volt a hazai rockzenének, az Omega mellett szólólemezei és színpadi művei is maradandóak – írták az oldalon.


    Mihály Tamás 1967-től volt az Omega együttes tagja. Presser Gáborral nagyban hozzájárultak ahhoz, hogy az Omega a magyar beategyüttesek élvonalába került. Presser Gábor kilépése után a legtöbb Omega-dalt ő írta.


    Mihály Tamás 1983-ban szólóalbumot készített Szintetizátor-varázs címmel, amelyen Liszt Ferenc és Richard Wagner szerzeményeit dolgozta fel. Ő komponálta 2006-ban az 1956-os forradalom jubileumára készült 56 csepp vér című musical zenéjét.


    Munkásságát 1987-ben Liszt Ferenc-díjjal, 1998-ban a Magyar Köztársasági Érdemrend tisztikeresztjével, 2000-ben Huszka Jenő-díjjal, 2007-ben Artisjus-díjjal ismerték el, majd 2013-ban az Omega együttes tagjaként megosztva Kossuth-díjat kapott.


    Mihály Tamás 2014-ben Basszus! Omega! Egy életre szól címmel könyvet írt az együttes történetéről.


    Az együttes billentyűse, Benkő László szerdára virradó éjjel, 77 éves korában hunyt el. Benkő László 1962-ben alapító tagja volt az Omegának.
