Elhunyt Mészáros Ferenc, a magyar labdarúgó-válogatott korábbi kapusa

    Hosszan tartó, súlyos betegség után 72 éves korában elhunyt Mészáros Ferenc, a magyar labdarúgó-válogatott korábbi kapusa – közölte hétfőn a magyar szövetség (MLSZ).

    Mészáros Ferenc 1950-ben Soroksáron született, a VM Egyetértésben kezdett el futballozni. A Bubunak becézett kapus 18 évesen került a Vasashoz anyaegyesületéből.


    Kiváló képességű, a legelképesztőbb bravúrokra képes, virtuóz kapus volt. Pályafutása fénykora a nyolcvanas évek elejére esett, egyik legjobb meccse a bukaresti vb-selejtező volt.


    Mészáros az egyike annak a csupán négy magyar kapusnak – Szabó Antal, Grosics Gyula és Ilku István társaságában -, aki legalább két világbajnokságon is védett. Sikerekben gazdag pályafutása során magyar bajnok (1977), MNK-győztes (1973, 1981), portugál bajnok (1982), Portugál Kupa-győztes (1982), U23-as Európa-bajnok (1974) lett. 1984-től még két idényt a magyar bajnokságban, a Rába ETO színeiben szerepelt, végül a pályafutását a portugál Setubalban fejezte be.


    Mészáros Ferenc harminckilencedik évében járva is védett még a válogatottban, nála idősebb korában csak Király Gábor őrizte a nemzeti tizenegy hálóját.


    Mészáros Ferencet az MLSZ saját halottjának tekinti.
