Edward Norton pályát módosít – egy kicsit. A három Oscar-díjra jelölt színész az elmúlt hónapot a filmrendezői székben töltötte – bár nagyon kényelmesen valószínűleg nem helyezkedhett el benne, mert mint rendező kiváló főszereplőt választott: saját magát. Norton 2000-ben rendezte meg első játékfilmjét, egy érzelmes-bájos vígjátékot. Az Ég velünk-ben egy New York-i rabbi és egy katolikus pap, régi jó barátok, ugyanabba a nőbe szeretnek bele. A mostani projekt már sokkal komolyabb, de a helyszín nem változott. Az Anyátlan Brooklyn című regény filmváltozatában egy turett-szindrómás, kisstílű alvilági figura az 50-es években kénytelen kinyomozni egy bűntettet: a saját nevelőapja, a mafia behajtóembere gyilkosát próbálja megtalálni. A különlegesen izgalmas és szokatlan neonoir megfilmesítését Norton már több mint tíz éve próbálja összehozni, és nem hiába fáradozott – a sztorit most csupa sztár kelti életre: Norton mellett többek között Bruce Willis, Willem Dafoe, Alec Baldwin, Leslie Mann, Cherry Jones és Gugu Mbatha-Raw játssza Brooklyn alvilági figuráit. A forgatás február elején kezdőddött, és nemsokára véget ér, a premierre valamikor 2019-ben kerülhet sor.
