Vámos Miklós Dunapest

Dunapest – Linda, az Angliában élő francia nő (negyvenes) értette így félre egyszer fővárosunk nevét. Magyar származású férje halála után vaktában fölszáll az első repülőgépre, ami történetesen Budapestre indul. Itt megismerkedik egy fiatal lánnyal, Tóth Julival (húszas) és két fiatalemberrel (harmincasok). A lány meghívja magához a regény fő helyszínéül szolgáló patinás bérházba, a Pozsonyi út 38–40.-be. Az 1938-ban készült épület múltja és jelene köti össze a cselekmény két szálát.
Csillagos ház volt 1944-ben a Pozsonyi 38., a vele egybeépített 40. pedig svájci védettségű is. Történelmi alakok, Carl Lutz, a svájci alkonzul és Raoul Wallenberg, a svéd követségi titkár is felbukkannak a regény során – ők ketten egy közepes város teljes lakosságát kitevő embert mentettek meg 1944-ben. A ház valós lakóinak (Hatvany Lajos, Szép Ernő, Heltai Jenő) vagy képzeletbeli tulajdonosainak sorsa révén fiction és non-fiction kígyója szétválaszthatatlanul tekeredik össze Vámos Miklós legújabb könyvében – jelenné téve azt, ami múlt.
