Anne Frank és társai sorsa a lágerekben

Anne Frank utoljára 1944. augusztus 1-én írt a naplójába. Három nappal később felfedezik rejtekhelyét az amszterdami házuk hátsó traktusában, és letartóztatják a vele együtt bujkálókkal együtt. Apja, Otto Frank 1945. január 27-én szabadul föl Auschwitzban, és rögtön kutatni kezdi, mi történhetett feleségével, Edithtel, két lányával, Annéval és Margottal, valamint a másik négy bujkálóval: Hermann és Auguste van Pelsszel, azok Peter fiával és Fritz Pfefferrel. Beletelik néhány hónapba, amíg bizonyosságot szerez: a nyolc bujkáló közül ő az egyetlen, aki túlélte a német lágereket.

A szerző újból felveszi a kutatás fonalát, hogy a fennmaradt történelmi bizonyítékok, vallomások és dokumentumok alapján a lehető legtöbbet derítsen ki a hátsó traktusban bujkálók letartóztatás utáni viszontagságos sorsáról. Részletes és megrázó feltárásával a szerző nemcsak Anne Frank élettörténetének fehér foltjait pótolja, hanem a holokauszt történetének megismeréséhez is jelentős mértékben hozzájárul.
