1968-ban egy magyar egyetemista fiú, Tóth Miklós (Mészáros Martin) beleszeret egy angol lányba, Alexandra Parmenterbe (Barta Ágnes). Szerelmüket a történelem szétszakítja, mély érzelmi kapcsolatuk egy fordulatos és titkokkal terhelt történetté válik. A két idősíkon játszódó alkotásban az immár 76 éves Tóth Miklóssal eredünk a fél évszázaddal ezelőtti rejtély nyomába, és lélegzet-visszafojtva figyeljük, ahogy a szálak napjainkig húzódnak.
